I am a progressive, and certainly for social security.  Oddly I always thought I would likely give any benefits I might get to someone more needy.  It now seems I need and will need it.

Oh well, life is often 'with a little bit of luck'

God bless Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I would really be testing my survival skills now, if wasn't for Social Security. There is a lot that can be done to make it more solvent and secure.

But maybe first We should make it an optional program. Its not good to "force" Individuals, who are not interested in it, to pay into it. But boy am I glad I was "forced" to. Work is hell when one is old and rickety.

Soon, I will bring in some ideas and proposals about this life saver program.  Ol Dan

I feel that Social Security is neccessary, especially considering the current unreliability of private investments.  I know many people who would bee in great trouble with out Social Security.  Some planned (or thought they did) well for retirement.  For people who who have worked hard to reach retirement it would be an ugly financial suprise to see today's markets without a safety net.

I did plan a little for my retirement. In the form of a Teamsters Pension and Social Security. I never trusted Capitalist Ways, (I've always had the feeling that there was something dark and sinister about it...too much predatory mindedness.), so I opted not to invest in property or Wall Street. I Placed my old age future in the hands of union and Social Security...thinking that I could finish my days humbly and frugally, but get by well enough. I can live with $1000.00 a month. Now, no matter what, I will have to just do my best to survive as long as I can. I am fortunate in that my health is holding up well. I am comfortable in the wilderness...of the middle North temperate kind.

One thing I might have done different, is to start a business. When I was younger, I didn't like the idea of being pinned down by one. And I wasn't smart enough to be able to find a product or service that wasn't already being offered extensively by many entrepreneurs. I have a good idea now, of a product and a service combination and might have to give it a go. The need for America's transition to clean energy has opened this opportunity.  But it will be starting on a shoestring and I will probably die before it really takes off. But, who knows. It might have a better chance if other Individuals would come into it and be willing to take their chances on it. It would be a Worker owned company, that has to grow from coast to coast, border to border.

Anyway. What I've got for retirement is no more and no less than what I have EARNED. nothing ventured, nothing gained. Little ventured and little gained. I've done better than a lot of others have and not as good as Many. I'm in that good ol middle area and am prepared to live and die with what I have.

But, it wouldn't be right for the Wall Street and banker types to try and take that away from me. I did earn what little I have.

All in all, my life has been an interesting and educational adventure. Still is.
