We need to design a party logo before we can completely finish our new websites. We have several talented individuals willing to work on a design after the party gives them more feedback. The logo will be on our new websites and all party materials. If you have suggestions, please post them in the comments below.

We currently do not have a party symbol. The started the process in several past member surveys, but hadn't come to a conclusion. We started out with about 30 suggestions and after voting the top selections were American Elk, American Wild Horse, American Grey Wolf, a combination of a fist and a gadsten flag (kind of a combination of occupy wall street & the tea party), Dolphin, a symbol design using the words Citizens Party, several shield designs and several other options. Or if we want to be different, we can use no symbol. As long as we have a logo, we would be fine as well.

We would prefer you narrow down the current list of options, but you may make other suggestions. Just keep in mind that not everyone will like the final selection. Our previous member surveys were split evenly for several selections.

The party logo and symbol can be two totally different things. For example, the Democrats symbol is the donkey (or jackass as we prefer),

but the logo they currently use is just a D with a circle around it:

Please let us know your preferences, thoughts and suggestions. We may or may not use specific feedback from this blog to make a final decision. Also, we may or may not conduct a special member survey on these two issues before making a final selection.

That "looks" like good imagery, Rick Mente. But I "feel" that the "Statue of Liberty" is an American icon of diminishing importance; due to the need to reduce immigration because of a full population in Our Nation. Just my opinion.

How about the Statue of Liberty with the Stars and stripes superimposed over the silhouette, and "CP" on top of the torch?

Thanks for sharing those logo designs. These designs were created by someone else and they do not give permission to others to use them. A few years back, a group called "No Labels" used them without permission and they were sued. Eventually, no labels stopped using the designs and I believe that the lawsuit was dropped.

I was thinking about the logo today and I recall the big fish chasing all the little fish away and then the little fish "organize" into the "shape" or a bigger fish and chase the big fish away.

Obviously they won't work as a logo but it would be nice to come up with something that represents the power of the people when they are "organized" together.

Still no word on my end from any UCLA students and I offered $50! of my own money to pay for it!  Wish I had more....but maybe college students just aren't that "hungry" anymore??

Heck I kinda actually like the idea of a stick figure. Give em a hard hat and a smile, cause we want to represent fixing things for the better.

I agree with John Kurian.

I am awaiting a response from the Communications Dept. at UCLA for a student to volunteer to design a logo.  At this point I would take a bunch of stick figure people flashing peace signs!

Am looking forward to the new website and the ability to raise money!

Many states have laws/rules limiting what symbols and words you can use in your party logo and name. For example, several states do not allow a party to use the word "American" in the title. That was one of the primary reasons why we changed our name from the "New American Independent Party" to the Citizens Party several years ago. We would not have been allowed to have our name on the ballot in several states because of that reason. They would have just listed us as independent or they would have just tossed out our signatures.

We cannot use the American flag in our logo or symbol. Several states do not allow it. We can use things similar to the American flag, but we can't use what is clearly an American flag. Other states have a handful of other words and symbols that you cannot use. We also cannot use symbols that are very similar to those being used by other parties. For example, the Constitution party uses the bald eagle as it's symbol and in it's logo.

Mountain lion: courage, leadership and foresight

Wolf: loyalty, perseverance, success

Either the mountain lion or the wolf would do in the jackass swiftly and either would eventually do in the elephant by running it ragged and annoying it until it would retreat.

An animal mascot will likely arise over time and I doubt we'll actually get to choose it. Just look at the Democrats, the donkey came from an editorialist who was referring to Andrew Jackson as a "jackass" during his 1828 presidential run. (Factmonster.com) his supporters embraced the derogatory term and the rest is history.

I have Frank Maddocks at Warner Brothers working on a logo and I have asked him to just come up with some ideas on his own.  He is a millenial type guy who does album covers for some big artists like Alanis Morrisette and I expect ideas from him any day.  I have Citizensparty.com live but it is certainly not ready for prime-time.  I will link his ideas as soon as I get them.  The website I have for now I am just posting articles and there is a Discus comment section after each article.  I just wanted the website so we would all have a place to discuss current events and for others to come for a visit and to comment.

As for the "symbol" like an Elephant or Jackass, my vote is to keep it simple and have it reflect what the party stands for.  It is not conservative or liberal/progressive or libertarian to me.  It is taking the "best" ideas from the various philosophies and bringing the citizens together.  So for me the symbol might be a small group of people standing around an American flag.  Some old, some young, some Black, some white, some Asian, men and women.  A good cross section of who we are.  I like that symbol or something that reflects the CITIZEN aspect...."We are all in this together".....
