Good historical novels, history, great stories, almost all music except most rap. I enjoy great documentaries and movies with great stories that are well-acted. As for TV I like Dr. G: Medical Examiner since I'm a nurse. I like to see if my guess on the diagnosis is right. Some food shows or great movies on TCM or animal shows.
Born in Ohio and lived in Ohio and Florida as a child. I graduated high school in Willard, Ohio then attended Ohio University's nursing program and became a Registered Nurse.
I was taught in high school by my American History teacher, Mr. Cook, to always "dig and cram for knowledge". I guess it stuck because that's all I seem to want to do is read on-line, newspapers and books.
I eventually settled in Southern California and worked in the campaign for a nuclear weapons freeze in the 80's. I was involved with Women Strike for Peace and the Alliance for Survival. I volunteered In Jerry Brown's and Tom Harkin's presidential campaigns.
I demonstrated against the first Persian Gulf War and organized a sit-in with Jerry Rubin, Ron Kovic and others at the office of Rep. Mel Levine which lasted 3 days and nights.
After that I ran for Congress in 1992 against Jane Harman and came in 3rd of of 7 in the Democratic primary.
I have been a registered Democrat my entire adult life. Until now. I refuse to ever vote for another Democrat.
I actually worked in the Obama campaign and helped raise money and did phone banking etc. in the "hopes" that he would be a true Democrat. But since he was elected, his actions and those of other Democrats in Congress have been nothing but a major disappointment to me. I see little difference between Obama and George W. Bush.
I have high hopes for The Citizens Party. I am very happy to see that it has been started. At least now I can belong to a party I truly support.

It was a sad day, but a lot of good has come out of it. It's made people stronger and has shown that the people of America make this great country what it is and we will continue to fight to make it what it should be. :) It was great to meet you and the other members as well.
Have you decided on a date for the next Socal meeting? I can't make it Saturday the 28th since I am going to an event and know several other people who are going to the event but would like to go the the citizens party meeting. It is also Momorial Day Weekend.
