I didn't see a discussion area for the core part of the party, its platform, what it stands for. I think debate and discussion would be a great thing in this area so that we don't get stuck on one course, but rather a flexible course that is, well, pragmatic.

Something I wanted to bring up in the platform was the investigation into 9/11. Are we suggesting anything here? I think the subject has been run into the ground especially from the extremists. We all know the "truthers" and conspiracy people are full of it and we also know that outright racism against the entire Muslim world is ignorant. So, what more does this party want to investigate. We know who, what, where, when, and even why. I'd really hate to see this party devolve into conspiracy talk and New World Order nonsense. It's in the past and it's time to grow up.

Yes, the 9/11 issue is transformational and quite confusing.  I agree with you about avoiding the subject.  I want to be part of a group that is going somewhere, not trying to dissolve into the endless nuance that clouds our political system.  9/11 was a mess and is a confusing issue.  I was in the military at the time.  This single event turned my life's trajectory upside down.  The damage is done though.  Nothing will change that day, not even full disclosure by the government.  I want to be part of the solution.  If we are going to investigate 9/11 then we might as well investigate Iran Contra and whether or not Anne Coulter is a transsexual.  It's all pointless and similar to obsessing about Lindsey Lohan's kleptomania.  It's not going to get us what we want, a genuine representative government and a positive future for my kids.

Well said, if this were facebook I would hit the 'like' button. :P

Thanks Dustin and Kyle for the posts. We hope to do several things in regards to the platform. We intend to add a feature that will allow members to rank the issues of importance to them. We currently divide our platform issues into two categories: Critical and Important. We just haven't published them with those designations yet. As we move closer to 2012 we hope that the our member discussions/input will continue to naturally settle these issues into those two categories. We will continue to try to tackle the Important issues, but it will be the fundamental critical issues that will see the most focus from this party (and hopefully our candidates). Along the way if we have a strong enough calling to add or remove certain issues or wording to/from the platform then we can consider those changes and some will ultimately be up for a vote at future conventions. The critical issues will rise to the top, while some other issues/stances/problems will likely get weeded out.

We will seek to maintain a consistant thread through our stances in regards to our founding party principles of government reform and efficiency, national self reliance, pragmatism, long term sustainability, etc. As we continue to grow and garner more attention we will continue to face growing threats primarily from the two major parties and certain special interests, but also from some desperate third parties. We have been adding special safeguards into our processes and rules to protect ourselves from attempts to hijack our platform or otherwise damage our efforts. It can be a delicate balance trying to both foster a people-powered party while trying to prevent folks from attempting harm. But, we will continue to do our best to strike that balance.

Thanks for your posts and input on the platform.

I agree with the party platform and the previous posters. I can say this as a person who lost a family member that day (Jeffery Palazzo Fireman Rescue 5 Staten Island). This debate won't bring the dead back and it won't re erect the towers. Its a redundant and unsatisfying issue bogged down in speculation and minutia. Getting this party membership into the thousands should be the primary goal and it can't be done debating conspiracy theories.
